Edit Network Topology
navigation once you save a new network or open an existing network from the dashboard, you will automatically be redirected to the network editor there are 5 main elements in the network editor breadcrumb the breadcrumb at the top of the page shows the active group and network clicking on the xecta logo (x icon) will navigate back to the landing page equipment list as you add equipment to the network, it will appear in this list, which has search and filter functionality clicking on an equipment will zoom and focus the editor to that equipment design canvas equipment is placed, organized, and connected on the canvas toolbar the toolbar contains a selection tool, equipment creation tools, a zoom tool, and undo/redo tools hovering over an icon will spawn a tooltip describing that tool settings panel by default, you will see network level settings when no equipment is selected when equipment is selected, the content of this panel will change to be specific to the selected equipment adding equipment equipment can be added by selecting a specific tool from the toolbar and clicking on the canvas to drop that equipment injection networks have the following tools available well, pipe/edge, joint, and compressor any equipment additions, deletions, or location changes are saved automatically add a separator in this example, we're creating a production network the first step is adding a separator click on the separator icon in the toolbar and place the compressor on the design canvas after placing the separator, switch back to the selection tool and select the newly added separator adjust separator settings once selected, the settings panel on the right changes to display separator specific content here you can change the name, operating pressure, and add any known constraints these include max oil rate, max gas rate, max water rate, and max liquid rate for this example, we're going to rename the compressor to "hp separator", set an operating pressure of 250 psi, and set a max water rate of 2000 stb/d click "save" to submit your changes add second separator next, repeat the process to add a lp separator with a 100 psi operating pressure and a 1000 stb/d max water rate constraint add wells next, we will add wells by default, only prodx wells can be added select the well tool and click on the design canvas to bring up the well selection list the well selection list is the same hierarchial well selection tool found in prodx that allows groups, filtering, and searching you can add multiple wells at a time in this example, we will select all wells in the "storm cf2" central facility click "add wells" to place them on the canvas adjust well settings then, if you switch back to the selection tool and pick any one of the wells, you will see the settings panel on the right update with well specific settings wells linked to prodx have a read only name, but the link to prodx can be adjusted as needed optimization mode allows you to select whether the well is "fixed" or "optimize" (default is optimize) for production networks, fixed would indicate the optimizer cannot modify the wellhead pressure of the well optimize would allow the optimizer to adjust the wellhead pressure (i e separator routing) add joints network nodes (wells, separators, compressors, etc) only support one connection joints allow multiple connections to be made in this example, we're going to create a joint for each separator first, add two joints to the network below each separator like this we can then select these joints and give them a meaningful name in this example we'll use "hp" and "lp" add edges and pipes now that our joints are placed, we can switch to the "pipe/edge" tool to start connecting equipment in this example, the direction of connection is important fluid flows from the wells to the separators first, select the "pipe/edge" tool from the toolbar, then click on a well, which will trigger the connection to start click again on the "hp" joint to end the connection repeat the process for each well, connecting it to the joint representing the current routing finally connect the joints to their respective separators at this point, the network has been completely designed and is ready to be imported into a scenario deleting equipment if you need to delete any equipment, you can click the purple " " icon to the right of the equipment on the canvas moving equipment to move any equipment in the network, use the selection tool to select the item (a purple dashed box will appear around it) then you can click and drag to place the item in an alternate location
