# Navigation

To create a network, first switch to the network view on the landing page of NetX

# Create a Group

To facilitate organization, next we will create a group to organize our network. The "+ Group" icon on the left allows you to create a new group. We will create one called "Permian" for the sake of this exercise.

The network creation form has the following fields:

1. **Name** - We recommend that you use a descriptive and useful name for the network. Typically there will only be one version of each "master" network in the platform that all users will share for scenario creation.
2. **Description** - The description adds context to the network so that yourself or other users are aware of creation details
3. **Group** - If you have previously added a group, you can assign a network to that group here. Groups are optional, but useful for organization
4. **Type** - This describes the type of the network (injection, production, or combined). Depending on your subscription, some options may be disabled.
5. **Access** - Networks can have difference access levels. Public means anyone can see, edit, or use the network. Public read only means that only you can edit the network, but anyone can see and use it. Private means that only you can see, edit, or use the network.

For this exercise, let's create a network called "Permian Centralized Injection" and link it to the "Permian" group we created previously. The type will be "Injection" and we will leave the access "Public".

After saving, you will be redirected to the network editor. See the next section for details about editing networks and adding equipment.
